God’s Anger on Afghanistan – Life Under Taliban 10

God’s Anger on Afghanistan

This piece has been written by Rahil (pseudonym) who lives in Afghanistan in Persian and has been translated to English by us.  You can find the Persian version here.

It is as if God has placed all his anger and ire on the people of Afghanistan, from earthly calamities, destruction, and natural disasters.

The four seasons of Afghanistan, each with its own unique features and beauty, are important for the production of agriculture and natural water reserves. Spring, with its morning drizzles, wakes up the spirit of everyone, with the thought of hope and the hard work of farmers to prepare the lands for harvest.

Summer is the season of fruits’ growth, the season of warmth and good fortune. In the autumn, nature is covered with yellow leaves fallen from trees. Autumn is the season of long morning and evening walks. Winter is the time that everything sleeps and hides under the layers of white snow, waiting to be awakened by the light of the sparkling sun.

This year, the year of 1401, is the year in which pain, sorrow, and depression prevail on these lands, not only for the people but also for nature. The seasons of the year did not take their natural course this year. In the spring, when everyone was waiting for the spring rain to wake up nature after its long winter sleep, the rain drops angrily refused to fall on the earth. Due to nature’s anger on Afghanistan, the beginning of the summer, the season that is characterized by the ripening of colorful fruits on the trees, brought about devastating earthquakes in the southeastern provinces and floods in other provinces that swallowed people and all their property under the ground.

These earthquakes were unprecedented in the last 20 years of history of Afghanistan. They destroyed the bodies and property and caused the lives of thousands. What makes these earthquakes most painful is the lack of food and resources available to the people to deal with the aftermath.

Ignorant and violent creatures by the name of ‘Talibs’ in power and ruling;

  • The wrath of nature in Paktia, Paktika, and Khost;
  • The ire of rain and floods in Ghazni and Nooristan;
  • Plentiful unknown illnesses in Helmand and Zabul;

When will nature and humanity in these lands of Afghanistan return to their natural and normal state of existence?
